There are so many mixed concepts about when people can change their cartilage piercing, it takes much longer time for healing than other fleshy body parts like earlobes. When the crust appears, do not try to break it, it is normal. It is for the protection of wounds and if you remove the crust, your piercing can not properly recover.

Some people say that you should twist your piercing and logic behind this misconception is that they want to break the crust that appears around the newly piercing but it is not the correct way to remove the crust. It is an easy way but not a correct way to remove the crust. You should leave the crust and clean it with saline spray and then clean with gauze

Yes , your cartilage piercing will be closed overnight if you remove the jewellery from it. It is possible it will close just within 20 minutes especially if your piercing is a cartilage piercing.
